Free dive and spear lionfish, lobster and collect conch, or do it all. End you days relaxing by the pool, with incredible sunset views over the Mayan mountains while sipping a freshly crafted cocktail of the day!

Based on a Caribbean island situated on the Belize Barrier Reef where there are barely other boats, this is a fisherman or diver’s dream! Here you'll have the chance to fish alongside some of Belize's finest fisherman. Fish on the shelf for the big wahoo, barracuda’s and kingfish. And, bottom fish for the huge snappers, groupers and jacks. Fly-fish the surrounding flats for bonefish, permits and tarpon, there's something for everyone.

Location

Blue Reef private island is located just 8 miles from mainland Dangriga, Belize. Just a short boat ride away from the Belize Barrier Reef, boasting some of the best fishing, snorkeling and scuba diving in the Caribbean.

Explore areas in and around South Water Caye Marine Reserve, the largest marine reserve in Belize, spanning from just north of Tobacco Caye to a cut five miles south of South Water Caye called Grand Channel.

The fishing is world class with a huge variety of species all in our back yard! Troll the reef for wahoo, barracuda’s and kingfish. And, bottom fish for the huge snappers, groupers and jacks. Fly-fish the surrounding flats for bonefish, permits and tarpon, there's something for everyone. Add on an outer reef blue water day and fish the deep water for blue marlin, sailfish, dorado & tuna.

With literally dozens of dive sites, Blue Reef dive guides will show you a variety of species and topography. There are fewer divers at this pristine southern section of the barrier reef. Typically, the sites are wall dives that is interspersed with spur and groove sections and sand channels.

The property

The 3-acre island is only 20 minutes boat ride from mainland Dangriga. Off the beaten track, a remote island paradise where guests can fish, dive, snorkel, fly fish, deep sea fish, spearfish, kayak and paddleboard to their hearts content!

All cabanas have verandas overlooking the Caribbean Sea, with walkways that take you from your cabanas directly into the Caribbean!

The premier cabana has a private plunge pool located on the veranda overlooking the turquoise sea.

The island boasts a private pool for island guests only. The private hot tub and pool face west, for incredible sunset views. After a fun filled day at sea, round off with a relaxing massage followed by sundowners in the pool or hot tub.

The accommodation

Accommodation is in 5 x gorgeous cabanas all with a/c, inside and outside showers, fridges and coffee percolators. All cabanas have verandas overlooking the Caribbean Sea, with walkways that take you from your cabanas directly into the Caribbean! Guest comfort is a priority. Beds have memory foam mattresses and the highest quality luxury 100% high thread count Egyptian cotton linens.

Cabanas are a mix of kingsize beds and family configurations. All cabanas have pull out sofa beds.

The staff and meals

The chefs pride themselves on using local seasonal and regional ingredients, giving guests a fusion of Belizean and International dishes. The kitchen will prepare your catch of the day, for delicious fresh fish and seafood options.

Reef Bar & Restaurant – private for island guests

The Reef Bar & Restaurant is private for island guests only. Situated under an open palapa, by the private pool and hot tub, overlooking the Mayan Mountains.

Blue Reef Restaurant & Bar – public

Our public restaurant overlooks the Caribbean Sea, hang out in one of our swing chairs while sipping a cocktail or enjoying a fresh seafood dish.

All meals are inclusive in our island packages.

Guides are the best in Belize. The team are experts at fishing the area, scuba diving and fly fishing. All of our guides are Belizean and have fished and dove the area throughout their lifetimes.
